You can have your daily dose of bone broth without cooking, heating, or entering a kitchen. Yes, there’s a very good reason to keep bone broth behind your bar. Get the cocktail shaker and ice cubes ready: this bloody bull recipe is the ultimate pre-dinner savory cocktail or perfect wind-down treat on a sunny Sunday.
What is a Bloody Bull Cocktail?
You can think of the bloody bull as the “beefy” older brother of a bloody mary. A bloody bull is essentially a bloody mary that has beef bone broth added to it, to create an even deeper savory taste.
The addition of bone broth offers a strong punch of umami flavor. Dare we say, it even makes a more “health conscious” cocktail?
That said, the bloody bull recipe calls for all of the same ingredients you’d use for a bloody mary: celery salt, chili powder, and paprika for the rim, vodka, tomato juice, hot sauce, lemon and Worcestershire. The difference is, you’ll be adding four ounces of Kettle & Fire Beef Bone Broth to the mix to deepen the flavor.
The Trick to Making a Perfect Bloody Bull
Although you may have mad bartending skills and eyeballing ingredients is usually safe, we advise not taking the risk with a bloody bull recipe. Instead, always measure the amount of bone broth you add according to the recipe.
If you add too much beef bone broth to the cocktail shaker, you risk it tasting like an alcohol-infused tomato bone broth soup. If you add too little bone broth, the taste will be faint and your taste buds won’t cash in on the lip-smacking umami flavor that makes a bloody bull, well, a bloody bull.
